Official Celebrations of our Treorchy showroom opening
The leading and award winning local re-use charity toogoodtowaste recently celebrated the official opening of their brand new facility in Treorchy on Thursday 13th June.
The building has been re- developed to create a large charity showroom, displaying safe, clean and affordable pre-owned items of furniture, electrical, clothing and household items at affordable prices, large workshops, community spaces and a large car park, after successfully securing grants of over £637,000 from the Big Lottery People and Places Fund & Pen y Cymoedd Wind Farm Community Fund to renovate the Former Adult Education Centre.
When they purchased the building back in 2014 it came with some resident barn owls that had lived in the building for many years. During the renovations the charity worked closely with ecologists and installed 2 owl lofts, they were overjoyed that the owls stayed with them throughout the process and now have 4 chicks.
Shaun England, Chief Executive said: “We were absolutely thrilled to open our third showroom in December, we enjoyed officially celebrating the opening with our customers, colleagues and partner organisations and were delighted to launch our owl cam, enabling us and customers to observe them in their natural environment!”
During the celebration event there was live entertainment, refreshments, tours of their retail areas, workshop and community spaces, information stands and much more.
If you missed the opening event but want to visit the showroom they are open 7 days a week, Monday – Saturday 9am – 5pm with late night opening until 8pm on Thursday & 10am – 4pm on Sunday.
