Investing in Volunteers standard awarded to local re-use charity that proves that people are too good to waste!
We are delighted to hear that we have been awarded the prestigious Investing in Volunteers quality standard for the third time, in recognition of the excellent work we do with volunteers.
We reduce waste by collecting re-usable household items and redistributing them via our charity showrooms. The income we raise enables us to help low income households and provide training and volunteering opportunities.
Each year we provide over 350 free furniture packages to people referred to us in need or crisis, support over 280 volunteers & placements and re-use over 720 tonnes of household items that would have otherwise been destined for landfill. Over 74,000 items are selected & sold for re-use.
At the heart of the organisation are the volunteers who help carry out our daily tasks & help as many people as possible, we offer a number of volunteering roles within our two charity showrooms and we are delighted to have been awarded the Investing in Volunteers award again as it recognises the commitment and support that we give to our volunteers.
Shaun England, Chief Executive Officer said “We are delighted and very proud that we have achieved this award in recognition of the hard work, dedication and impact made by volunteers and staff within toogoodtowaste. It reaffirms that we have consistently developed and followed best practice standards over the years and our commitment to continue to maintain this level of support for our volunteers.”
Investing in Volunteers is the UK quality standard for organisations involving volunteers. It aims to improve the quality of volunteering experience for volunteers and to encourage organisations to better recognise the enormous contribution made by volunteers. Investing in Volunteers is managed in Wales by Wales Council for Voluntary Action.
We were assessed against a range of best practice standards and proved to excel in all aspects of working with our volunteers.
