VOLUNTEERS’ PUMPKIN CARVING COMPETITION
This month’s blog post will be a little different. As the first guest blogger for toogootowaste, I, Juliana, am happy to be writing about my fellow volunteers! Based in the Ynyshir showroom, I am a volunteer Marketing Assistant and help maintain the Facebook Page and do pretty much anything else that is needed within the Marketing Department.
But enough about me, let’s talk about more interesting things, like yesterday’s Pumpkin Carving Competition!
As an annual toogoodtowaste Halloween tradition, the current volunteers represent their departments in a Pumpkin Carving Competition and this is the third year that this takes place.
On 31st October, volunteers try to carve the best looking pumpkin they can! The departments represented this year were the Contact Centre, Customer Services, Bric-a-brac, Electrical, Warehouse and the Aberdare branch had their own pumpkin too.
Our canteen had never been busier and the volunteers worked hard, some carving a pumpkin by themselves, others in a group effort.
As a result of this, we had some brilliantly carved pumpkins! The designs were amazing and picking a winner was not an easy task for our CEO Shaun England. The pumpkins were anonymous when it was time for the judging, but I’m sure that knowing which pumpkin belonged to which department wouldn’t have helped either!
In fact, it was so hard to choose a favourite that we ended up having two winners. Well done, Customer Service and Contact Centre teams! Great effort and good job to everyone who participated, it was a really fun time!
